Over the year’s technology has revolutionized the world and has made the world a hi-tech society, which has made information easy to grasp on and at our fingertips. This modern technology has paved way for multi-functional devices such as smart phone, smartwatch, smart TVs and computers which are increasingly faster and portable to use in easing life. Love it or loathe it technology affects everything we do and sometimes influence our day to day lives, for the past years technology no doubt has created amazingly useful resources in the palm of our hands.
I would want to say technology has moved on to make impacts in six major part of the society around us which is:
• Communication: In the old age for an information to be passed it has to go true the post mail but with the advancement of technology devices are created to push information at fast speed here by breaking the barrier of distance and has brought a balance between the real world and cyber world. Information has improved through these numerous methods can be through electronic mail, social networking site, voice mail and video conference.
• Entertainment: Our entertainment experiences used to live in the moment they happened, exist in our memories and find their way in old-fashioned photographs on wall. Today, that has all changed due to the rapid growth of the Internet, mobile connectivity, and social networks. The major change of video tape to CDs and DVDs, the use of Online TVs such as Netflix, news on social platforms like Tv station website.
• Education: Modern technology has improved education by allowing student study from any part of the world online. It has expanded the access to education and there are huge amounts of information (books, images, videos, audio) that are available through the Internet and that will enable you to empower yourself with knowledge. In addition, online courses are on the rise and most of them are free. Housing and lifestyle: The majority of things we have today in our house are automated and thanks to the advancement of technology we have security in our houses via security doors, camera and lighting control for vigilance. And also access to the internet for our daily use such as shopping online which allows you to order from the comfort of your home.
• The first steamship was built in the 1770s, the first steam-powered train was built in 1798, and the modern car was created in 1886, while the first powered, controlled flight is believed to have taken place in 1903. Because of modern technology traveling is made easier, you could travel to a distance place with a short amount of time. It has made traveling efficient and quicker.
• Health: Technology has driven the force behind the huge improvement of the health care system, it has made it easy to gain access to proper health care with advanced state of arts equipment which is use to carter for the health of an individual. Due to the pandemic crisis in the world today technology has made so many things easier, technology cannot prevent the onset of the pandemics; however, it can help prevent the spread of the pandemic by educating, warning, and empowering those on the ground to be aware of the situation, and noticeably lessen the impact.
Today, with converging technologies like mobile, cloud, analytics, robotics, AI/ML, 4G/5G, and
high-speed internet, it
has become possible to test several innovative approaches to pandemic response.
Technology has helped us fight misinformation by bringing reliable information about the pandemic
through social media
and companies like Facebook, google and YouTube are working tirelessly to guide people to the right,
verifiable
information such as that published by WHO or local authorities and government. By making accurate
information available
to everybody, a transparent scenario can be created and the people can be informed about the right
steps to take.
Contact-less movement and deliveries through autonomous vehicles, drones and robots, Technology
supported temperature
monitoring, Remote working technologies to support social distancing and maintain business continuity,
communication in
case of any medical issues, and finally start of the art ambulance with high technology in place for
doctors use.
The transparency that we have gained through this current COVID-19 situation, we now understand that we were not geared up for this pandemic situation. The next pandemic is not a matter of “if it happens”, but “when it happens”, would we be prepared in advance against the pandemic at an individual and collective level. What we actually need is preparedness. Indeed, the technology has advanced more and will continue to advance exponentially, but the human institutions and societies need to accelerate in adapting to it and continue investing in building the technology systems for the preparedness.
